An educational series about Ukrainian national identity, historical and cultural memory, and the decolonization of Ukraine is now available on the MEGOGO platform.
Access to the series is free, thanks to the partnership between the international media service MEGOGO and the public organization Cultural Project which is carrying out the educational project In Search of Identity in Ukraine.
The video series features 12 leading Ukrainian scholars who study the history and culture of Ukraine. Among them are contemporary Ukrainian philosopher Natalia Kryvda, historian Vitaliy Skalsky, creative director of the "Ukrainian Institute" Tetiana Filevska, public figure and dissident Josef Zissels, Ukrainian philosopher and writer Taras Lyutyy, Doctor of Philological Sciences and Professor Olena Romanenko, journalist and TV presenter Dariia Hirna, and researcher of the history and culture of Crimean Tatars Oleksiy Savchenko.
In the video content, experts explore complex and significant topics for Ukrainian society:
- How national identity is forming and what factors influence it;
- What state policy should guide the formation of identity;
- Why we need to rethink our history and past;
- Why decolonization is necessary in Ukrainian education;
- How Ukrainians can get rid of imposed stereotypes, build trust among one another, and decolonize themselves.
"We are grateful to the MEGOGO team for their sincere desire to make Ukrainian content more accessible to a wide audience," says Natalia Zhevaho, president of the NGO Cultural Project." "We hope our series will help Ukrainians delve deeper into Ukrainian history, culture, and values, find themselves and their place in the modern world, and understand the reasons for what is happening to us today."
"MEGOGO already hosts over 3,000 lectures from leading schools and institutions for children and adults. It aligns with our goal of meeting the needs of Ukrainians for quality online education in a convenient format. Therefore, we are pleased to collaborate with the Cultural Project as intellectual and value-driven educational content from PhDs, professors, cultural scholars, and other prominent figures is especially important for MEGOGO's portfolio. We are a family media service, and we believe that this video series will appeal to parents and teenagers," noted Valeria Tolochina, Marketing Director of MEGOGO.
The educational series consists of 128 episodes, which can be viewed in the MEGOGO app under the "Education" section or on the MEGOGO website via the link.
