The first open-access online lecture of the discussion platform In Search of Identity, titled "Why is it important to talk about identity in times of war? Cultural identity," took place on February 21.

It was delivered by Natalia Kryvda, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor at the Department of Ukrainian Philosophy and Culture at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, a contemporary Ukrainian philosopher and public intellectual.

The lecturer discussed with the audience strategies for forming national identity, cultural identity, and the connection between national security and citizens' awareness of their identity.

The participants of the lecture tried to answer several significant questions:

  • What should be the state policy of identity formation?
  • What places of memory define Ukrainian identity today?
  • What will help to form a unified image of the Ukrainian nation now?
  • Why does knowledge about identity make people stronger?
  • Why is it important to talk about and learn about our identity today?

The event brought together attendees interested in exploring national identity, historical memory, and decolonization more deeply.
