XVII Solomiya Krushelnytska International Opera Festival was held on November 13-17th in Lviv National Opera. The organizers of Festival decided to add lectures and workshops to the eventful program. It helped an audience to better understand opera’s musical phenomenon and get acquainted with its key features in the XXI century. NGO Cultural Project presented 2 lectures on themes “Opera here and now”. The speaker was Halyna Dub – musicologist, critic and curator of Festival of Chamber Operas “Opera weekend”. Halyna interpreted such difficult points in musical field as: – Who is the opera director, when this role has appeared in the opera and what is the possibility of opera directing today in Ukraine and abroad. – New trends in Ukrainian opera: how to create, to popularize a new opera, how to listen a new opera and what experiments of Ukrainian composers and directors are worth of attention.
